I've been eyeing up vintage GMTs ever since handling a few Pepsi 1675s, but they're not easy to come by. When I saw this for sale the other day I absolutely couldn't resist.
It's a 1979 "root beer" model, but the brown top coat on the dial has deteriorated and let the gorgeous maroon underneath show through. I think it's absolutely the most beautiful dial I've ever seen, and I love that it's completely unique. The faded insert, ringed by a gold bezel, tops it off and really sets off the dark red in the dial. I really am in love with this watch, and can't stop staring at it!!
I was hesitant at first about buying a watch with any gold on it, but I think the two-tone looks very classy on a nato/suede strap. With the original two-tone bracelet I think it'd be a bit over the top.
I've taken the last picture in the sequence on my wrist, but credit for the other pictures goes to HQ Milton, who originally sold the watch to the previous owner.
