Sold for $838,090 on 11/10/13. An amazing example of one of the Rolex Daytona's rarest dials. This 'Pulsation' dial is 1 of perhaps 10 known (within all Daytona references) and only 1 of 2 to bear the red 'Daytona' designation. The special dial was available upon customer request and was used in the medical field to measure a patients heart rate. The chronograph would be started on the 1st heartbeat and stopped on the 15th, (hence the 'BASE 15 PULSATIONS' on the dial) and the outer ring of the dial would indicate the patient's heart rate. Despite this added complication on the dial, all other functions of the chronograph remain, the markers have simply been moved inward to achieve a more compact design.
