Har varit en del i Melbourne och tycker att utbudet är rätt bra, exempelvis på pantbankerna. På Chapel street finns både pantbanker och Chapel street bazaar med en massa roliga grejer. Det ska finnas bra finvintage hos handlare, men jag har inte besökt någon av dessa. Priserna är ofta rätt okej, framförallt om dollarn är låg. Som exempel köpte jag en Longines från 40-talet för en dryg tusenlapp på bazaren.

Mm vintagewatchco fick laga mitt plexi på min DD 1803 när jag bodde i Brisbane. Jag sålde sedan den klockan till en Nicholas Hacko, han är handlare och du finner honom i Sydney. Hans springpojke var dock jävligt dryg.

Kom på att det finns ett bra ställe i Queen Victoria Building också, Kalmar antiques. De är super trevliga och har en hel del vintage i sin butik, tyvärr inte så mycket på deras hemsida. Jag bodde i Sydney i 6 månader så hör av dig när du är på plats så ska du få lite tips

Schysst! Återkommer i höst då. Ska vara i Sydney 3 månader samt göra lite gästspel i andra städer så det kommer finnas bra med tid till att rota klockor.

I am Australian, i grew up in Melbourne & am sad to report the vintage watch market is very thin indeed. In the 1950's/60's & 70's the price of the housing market exploded & virtually all families were tied to heavy mortage - in this period luxury imports were at their all time lowest. Thus there are relatively few premium vintage watches from those days compared to the size of the population.
I moved from Australia in the late 90's & the watch places i knew then no longer exist. I had some luck in the local car boot sales & trash & treasure/flea markets back then, you could always try those but my observation over the last 10 years is that its a very tough place to find anything interesting.
I do wish you good luck & would love to hear if you find any treasures down there. There's always the beaches & outdoor lifestyle to enjoy

Here we go , i cant believe i still have a photo of this one !!
My greatest flea market find ever !!

Purchased in a Melbourne flea market around 1995 from a table laid out with up to 100 old & broken watches ( mostly plastic cased Casio digitals etc. )
I saw this laying amongst the ocean of cheap digitals & grabbed it. The seller said it probably just needed a battery
I didn't say anything, i just handed over the $20 and got out of there as fast as i could.

Thanks for the reply. I guess a find like that keep the excitment up every time you browse flea markets ever since!

I have been to Sydney and Melbourne before and I really like them booth. Specially Melbourne even though they are pushing the hipster thing a bit to hard sometimes.

Watches are a quite new interest of mine and I look forward to combine that interest along with good eats and drinks while travelling.
