Ingredients to make waterproof leather glue:
1 packet (1/4 ounce) of unflavored gelatin
3 tablespoons of boiling water
1 tablespoon of vinegar
1 teaspoon glycerine (ask for glycerine at any pharmacy or craft store)
Directions to make waterproof leather glue:
Boil the 3 tablespoons of water in a cup in the microwave.
Add the unflavored gelatin to the boiling water and stir until the gelatin is completely dissolved.
Add the vinegar and the glycerine to the gelatin mixture and mix well.
Apply a thin layer of the leather glue with a brush to whatever leather you want to glue and put the pieces together. You can use the glue while it is still warm.
Store the leather glue in a capped jar such as a baby food jar or a small jelly jar. This glue will keep for several months. Do not refrigerate.
Before the next use, you will need to warm the jar of leather glue because it will turn to gel while being stored. Just put the closed jar in a pan of hot water until it becomes liquid again. Do not add water to the leather glue.
