Thank you very much for purchasing the Grand Seiko mechanical watch
Take hold of your watch softly
Hear the watch ticking
Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock
Soft and faint, a dignified sound can be heard

The sound can be called
The crystal of the craftsmen's spirit and skill
Handpicked parts assembled one by one
Carefully, with craftsmanship,
Giving life to a mechanical watch
This is proven by the sound

Talking about accuracy,
Mechanical watches cannot be compared to
Quartz watches, that is for certain
However, the accuracy of a mechanical watch
Is pursued by human hands
Full of spirit and know-how of craftsmen

A mechanical watch - complicated, sensitive,
And having a human touch
We would like to let all of you know
The charm of a mechanical watch, which has no bounds
So we made this handbook, mainly detailing the accuracy
Wishing you will have a nice time
With your Grand Seiko for a long, long time

Seiko watch corperation

"Every year, thermals are a must for winter.
It means "related to heat, temperature, warmth, etc."
Like its meaning, it was originally underwear for the outdoors
as an item to increase heat retention.
So the question is why are thermals warm and how do they retain heat.
First, if you look at the material, you see bumps compared to
the material used for T shirts, sweats, parkas, etc. Also each one has its purpose.
Starting, the raised portion's purpose is to increase heat retention by having
the material stay in touch with the skin. Just like how slim fitting clothing feels
warmer than loose, baggy clothing.
Next, the indented portion's purpose is the opposite and does not touch the skin.
But instead it creates air. The air temperature increases from body heat not
escaping due to the raised portions touching the skin so that is how it increases
heat retention.
For example sweaters have bumps to create air from the yarn
but the weave is loose and air escapes easily so once you step out of the room
you suddenly feel cold. That is why if you wear a nylon jacket, etc. that is dense,
the heat retention increases dramatically.
To conclude, by making air where it does not touch the skin, and by touching
the skin and not allowing the air to escape, is how it increases heat retention.
This season, for such thermals, WTAPS uses Breath Thermo® from the
Japanese sports equipment manufacturer Mizuno, and this has fibers
which create heat from the moisture released from the body
and increase heat retention to prepare for the middle of winter.
FYI, according to our Director,
when you talk about thermals, he says it is Elliott from E.T.; the toys he had were
Hammerhead, Greedo, Lando, Snaggletooth, and what else was there?
That is about it."
