Hey, Jon here.
This time of year, it’s traditional for brands like us to look back and celebrate the number of watches they shipped, the new models they released, and so on.
And yes, 2025 has been our biggest year ever. Our community has grown to a scale never before imagined. We’re grateful to everyone who has taken a chance on our watches, as well as those of you who are still waiting, watching, and biding your time.
But we’re not patting ourselves on the back.
Actually, we’re a little surprised the year even went so well. Word of mouth, favorable
reviews, and the kindness of this community have accelerated our momentum almost without us doing anything special to cause it.
Aside from the Meteorite Venturers, we had almost no limited releases this year. We updated our
core collection to (we think) the pinnacle of its potential, but we didn’t release any new models in 2025.
Come to think of it, we didn’t release any new models last year either.
Nor the year before that.
What’s going on, you may well ask.
Well, in a sense, you could say we
do release new models every year. Our penchant for
iteration, our ruthless drive to find opportunities to enhance even the most successful models in our collection, means each year is a mini reinvention.
We also realized some time ago that to make TRASKA what we really dream of — something that puts a dent in the world of watchmaking, a meaningful contribution to this hobby we love — we’d have to take bigger risks than ever before.
While we could release another vintage-inspired sport watch with a high degree of confidence in success, that just wouldn’t feel right anymore. The point is not to retread familiar ground. It’s to go, together, somewhere we’ve never been before. That scares us. And we want it to.
You may have heard of our
Jump Hour project, a piece that has been in development for well over two years now. This was always going to be a stretch project, and while we’re (quite) confident it will be released next year, we’re prepared to take as long as necessary to get it just right.
Meanwhile, another new model has come together — sooner than we dared hope for. Hint: It’s something that people in this community have been asking for (for years). Look out for my next newsletter in about three weeks — I’ll be sharing the full story as well as the release date early in the new year.
This year was good. While working away on ambitious projects in the background, we played it safe on the surface, focused on our strengths, and grew organically. Next year? We’re taking risks, and putting out at least two, possibly three, all-new models that will be unlike anything you’ve seen (from TRASKA, or maybe even from anyone) ever before.
Am I excited? Yes. Nervous? Oh yes. But I am certain about why we are doing what we’re doing. Or maybe I should say, we’re certain about
who we’re doing it for.
We’re doing this for
you. You who have encouraged us at every step, from the first iteration of the Freediver back in 2018 to the latest evolution of the whole collection this year.
If you have one of our watches, then you know what it’s like to wear something without fear, to feel your own confidence echoed in stainless steel. Thank you for making everything we do possible.
And if you don’t have one of our watches yet? Next year is also for you. I hope to be able to offer you something you will find simply impossible to refuse. Thank you for challenging us to push things further.
If I could summarize our vision for 2026 in a few words, it would be this:
Prepare for the unexpected.
That’s all the watch news for the year,
Jon
