Om rost och Toyota.
Går i tankarna att roskydda min kommande Toyota men snubblade över denna ;
Verkar som att åtminstone Toyota Canada inte rekommenderar rostskyddsbehandling.
Toyota Title:
Aftermarket Rust Proofing Products
Suggestion:
As you are aware, Toyota has for some time not endorsed the need for additional rust proofing on Toyota
vehicles. This is because Toyota vehicles are built with extensive design considerations and specially
selected materials and coatings to help protect against corrosion. In all cases, compatibility with other vehicle
materials, components and systems is a primary consideration in the materials selected and applied to
Toyota vehicles during production and assembly.
Toyota Canada is unable to endorse products where the compatibility of the product with, or application
method to, Toyota vehicle components, systems, or original equipment materials is unknown to this company
or not approved by the factory. Our concern, of course, is the non-compatibility of such aftermarket rust
proofing products with our products or that those products may compromise the original “designed-in” anti-
corrosion protection Toyota vehicles receive at the factory. Other concerns these products raise generally
and with respect to Hybrid, Battery Electric and Fuel Cell vehicles specifically are set out in the attached
chart.
Oil Spray Type
Can cause premature deterioration and
swelling of components containing rubber.
Also “rubberized” undercoating and sound
guards may shrink and crack over time and
tend to trap moisture and salt against
components actually promoting corrosion.
Continual touch-ups cannot prevent
this condition, and heavy build-ups may
cause further deterioration of rubber
components and the insulation used in
wiring harnesses.
Induced voltages may interfere with new
vehicles equipped with engine immobilizers,
blue-tooth capabilities, and multiplexed
control and operating systems. This may
also result in illumination of the MIL light
triggered by false failure codes.
These systems also have the potential to
drain the vehicle’s battery and premature
battery failure may result due to a combined
parasitic draw with that of the vehicle
exceeding the acceptable limit.
The insulating properties of the systems
including the wiring harness, connectors,
components and related items that come in
contact with these materials, may react with
the chemicals used damaging the insulation
of the component, its function and service
life.
Any form of “electrostatic charge” induced
through the ground side may affect and shut
down the systems. This failsafe is
incorporated on these vehicles in case the
insulation is compromised on the main
power supply.
