Hi Matej, i think orakel is a generous over statement, my friends have me solidly pegged as a nerd - the only modofication i'd make to their statement is i'm a Heuer nerd
!!
You are correct that its powered by a Valjoux.72. Did you notice that the lower pusher is further away from the crown than the top pusher ? Only the 2 register Valjoux.23 & 3 register Valjoux.72 share this charactoristic.
Your watch is most certainly from the 50's - smack bang in the era where we ( as a collective of Heuer enthusiasts ) have the least amount of old brochures & information.
You stated ( correctly ) that this is a fore-runner to the Carrera as it shares both its movement, case size & lug types but sadly i cant confirm the model number. I have seen quite a number of these in the past & others quite similar but cant find it in a catalog
If you look here at the 1946 catalog
http://www.onthedash.com/Guide/_Catalogs/1946_Brochure/
you will be able to see a number of models that are similar ( especially the model 2447 - however thats a 38mm case ).
As for restoration i agree a new cyrstal & movement service will do it wonders. Ask your watchmaker to try and find similar style hands for the chronograph.
The one at 9 is correct
The one at 6 is missing
The one at 3 is not the correct style.
Good luck - Darren
