Think somewhere around 1976-77. The reference is the 1601 (wg bezel) or 1603 (engine turned bezel) or the later 16014 etc.I'm relatively new to older Datejust models, and I wondering at what point did Rolex switch to using sold links on the jubilee bracelet. I'm interested in saving up to buy an older DJ, fluted bezel, solid jubilee links, 36mm, stainless only. Dial color matters less, just no diamonds. What references should I look into?
I looked at a lot of those references on Chrono24, and it seemed like many of them had hollow links. Some had some pretty gnarly flex too.Think somewhere around 1976-77. The reference is the 1601 or 1603 or the later 16014 etc.
Think lots of the jubilee bracelets from the 70/80ies have a lot of flex regardless of folded or solid. In terms of watch (guess the most important) when you say vintage what year are you looking for?I looked at a lot of those references on Chrono24, and it seemed like many of them had hollow links. If you mean solid endlinks on the jubilee'-bracelet, it was about 2005 for steel DJ:s such as 116200 and 116234 but I think it came a bit earlier for the more rare ref. DJ Turn o Graph since it has the same bracelet. So if you are looking for an older you have to live with non SEL on the bracelets.I'm relatively new to older Datejust models, and I wondering at what point did Rolex switch to using sold links on the jubilee bracelet. You're right about the flex. I guess that isn't too important, I'm sure it's possible to track down a replacement.Think lots of the jubilee bracelets from the 70/80ies have a lot of flex regardless of folded or solid. End links are not a concern to me, I just wanted solid links instead of folded ones, I guess. The new refs mill them out of a solid piece, as apposed to folding them around a pin.If you mean solid endlinks on the jubilee'-bracelet, it was about 2005 for steel DJ:s such as 116200 and 116234 but I think it came a bit earlier for the more rare ref. Agreed! You can’t go wrong with a nice vintage DJYou're right about the flex. I guess that isn't too important, I'm sure it's possible to track down a replacement.
I'm not looking for any year specifically, I just like the older fluted bezels. They're smaller, less... obtuse. I also like the older dial options and crystals.
Looks really nice! Has it been polished, or did you manage to find one in great condition? Here is a folded jubilee from 1973, pretty good
Aha I understand. I think it was in the middle of the 70's they changed to solid links.End links are not a concern to me, I just wanted solid links instead of folded ones, I guess. The new refs mill them out of a solid piece, as apposed to folding them around a pin.
Wow, what ref is the middle one? All 3 are stunners, but the middle one there, it's amazing!Agreed! You can’t go wrong with a nice vintage DJ
Here three of mine
You would never really know on a watch from the 70ies which you have no history on but it sure looks pretty untouched this one.Looks really nice! Has it been polished, or did you manage to find one in great condition?
All 1601. The middle one have a rare “ghost grey” dial..Wow, what ref is the middle one? All 3 are stunners, but the middle one there, it's amazing!
What a find! It's really nice. I guess the price was a fair bit more than the 30k-40k one could be asked to give for a normal 1601. What do you think about the linen dials? All 1601. The middle one have an rare “ghost grey” dial..
