WatchAdvisors tankar (kanske kan vara av intresse för någon),
JUST MY TWO CENTS... Chronext lays off 40 of its 150 employees, the IPO is stopped... Who is surprised? It's all smoke and mirrors! The self created business with the artificial scarcity and the speculation that goes with it is at the end... It was and is a Potemkin village!
Unfortunately I can not provide you an English article, but please do translate these to English though...

Pure greed, speculation and perfidious rip-offs organized on a general scale, organized among other things with the specialized trade! If the online platforms Chronext & Co. would do the business they officially stand for, i.e. the sale of second-hand/pre-owned watches, then the business should actually increase in bad times and not stagnate... Since this, as well as with many other resellers, is in reality an artificially inflated gambling house for the sale of overpriced watches, there can only be a downward trend now...
I had always seen and articulated it exactly like this...
Let's face the facts: more than two million NEW, UNWORN Rolex models (+ Audemars Piguet and Patek Philippe) have been shifted to these platforms by, among others, retailers with their network of flippers and resellers.
There is no shortage of these watches either! This is merely an artificially created business so that one can perfidiously rip off.
These guys have created a premium business without asking the manufacturers and earned real money with it.
My question in this context is: Why don't the manufacturers want to do this premium business themselves?
If e.g. Rolex were to double/tripple its prices overnight the profits would flow into the pockets of the Rolex Foundation.
What if the private owners of Audemars Piguet and Patek Philippe would do the same?
Now these speculators and the retailers involved will probably have to take back the watches and sell them at the list price..
Just wait and see how quickly the "waiting lists" will shrink now ...
It seems once again, that some people have not had enough...
Please forgive me if I formulate: I sincerely hope that a few people will fall flat on their faces and that many, many genuine, honest watch-lovers will finally be able to buy their eagerly awaited watch models.
Watches should NOT be an object of greedy speculation, but a daily loyal companion that one enjoys anew every day. JUST MY TWO CENTS..
